Beautifully hand-crafted rattan is the strongest, most durable furniture available today. Not only is Rattan lightweight; allowing for ease of movement while cleaning, it will withstand the toughest rigors of everyday use. In addition, this "living vine" is non-destructive to the environment. Unlike wood, rattan replenishes itself after being cut, and is ready for harvesting after each seven to ten year growth period.

Rattan's versatility makes it the ideal furniture for today's look. It can be styled into the most casual of designs for informal living, to formal styles of unsurpassed elegance. Many of our furnishings have unattached cushions, allowing for flexibility in your decorating from year to year. The color scheme of any room can easily be transformed by changing only the cushions, eliminating the overwhelming expense of re-upholstering traditional furniture.

A stained or natural finish enhances the beauty of fine quality rattan furniture. The new white-wash finishes adapt well to Southwestern décor. Many of our manufacturers offer pastel and painted finishes from the darkest pecan or even black, to the light peach touches of a "patina". A quality piece should have a smooth, consistent finish. There may be variations in the color of the poles with some minor mineral streaks. This is part of the natural beauty of rattan and enhances the uniqueness of each hand-crafted piece.

Each manufacturer has a multitude of fabrics to choose from. Most manufacturers will even accept your own material (C.O.M.) to be placed on your special order for that one of a kind look.

"You mean I actually have to take care of it like "real" furniture?"

Rattan and wicker are virtually maintenance free. In general you don't want to use a silicone based furniture polish product on your furniture as it seals the rattan, not allowing moisture or oils to be absorbed into the pole. Regular dusting with a damp cloth is best for your every day cleaning. To enhance the sheen and protect the piece, you may want to apply a light coat of lemon oil. Wicker may also be cleaned with a soft brush, warm water and a mild detergent; some wicker may even be taken outdoors and hosed down for a final cleaning.
